Welcome to St. John’s College!

As parents, you are a vital component of the college community and we are excited to have you participate in the life of the college. We will offer a comprehensive orientation program at the same time as your son or daughter is going through student orientation. There will be informational sessions, opportunities to meet your fellow parents, and special parent-only seminars on the Notes on Dialogue led by those members of the faculty who will be teaching freshman classes.

We strongly encourage you to extend your stay in Santa Fe through Thursday afternoon for the Convocation ceremony on the morning of Thursday, August 23, 2012. Convocation marks the formal entrance of your son or daughter into the college as the faculty process in full regalia, the new students sign the college Register, and the President makes offers special remarks for the occasion. Business casual dress is requested. Weather permitting, the ceremony may be held outside – please plan for sun protection.

We also invite you to join us for Parent and Family Weekend in the fall. We’re still working on the details, but we have set aside the weekend of October 4-7, 2012, to welcome the parents, family, and friends of our current students to campus for three days of class visits, special programming, and a seminar that is just for parents and family. Make sure we have your email address so you’ll be among the first to hear when the details are finalized, and check the college website for more information in the coming weeks on this special event.

You are most welcome and encouraged to visit throughout the year. Feel free to contact the Advancement Office with questions and concerns, at 505-984-6114.
