- Walking Tour of Annapolis
Assemble outside the FSK lobby.
The immediate environment of the campus, including the Maryland State Capitol and the U.S. Naval Academy, holds an education in itself. Guides in colonial dress will take small groups on one-and ½ hour walks. All persons 16 years and older must bring a picture identification to enter the Naval Academy and the State House.
- Mitchell Gallery Tour: Photographic Portraits from the Collection of Robert M. Infarinato
During the early 20th-century, the artistic merit of photography was fiercely debated. This collection, on loan from Robert Infarinato, includes photographs by masters such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Ruth Bernhard, and Edward Steichen. The collection’s emphasis is on portraits of subjects in all kinds of settings, from formal seated portraits to candid situational shots. The portraits encourage a greater understanding of what is revealed through the photographer¹s lens, and a thoughtful examination of prints that were instrumental in pioneering this new medium.
The tour will be led by Art Educator Lucinda Edinberg
10 p.m.
Waltz Party in the Great Hall
We still call them “waltz parties,” but the heyday of the waltz has passed. Most of the dance music played will be from the swing era.
