St. John’s Community Preceptorials Explore Timeless Works

Summer isn’t the only season to make time to delve into a book, discover a new author, or explore the artist within. This fall works ranging from Dante’s “The Divine Comedy” to Ralph Ellison’s “Invisible Man” are on the slate of St. John’s Continuing Education and Fine Arts programs.
Fall classes begin September 12 and the registration deadline is two weeks before the start of each class. Tuition ranges from $135 to $210 for preceptorials. To receive a brochure and registration card, please contact Molly Burnett at 410-626-2530 or Molly.Burnett@sjca.edu.
St. John’s Continuing Education and Fine Arts programs offer community members the opportunity to consider fundamental works together in discussion classes patterned on the academic program of the college. In preceptorials, up to 15 students meet with a St. John’s tutor for a close reading and discussion of one book or several works relating to a theme.
This fall participants can explore “The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.” In another preceptorial participants will read and discuss Shakespeare’s “Othello.” They will explore the nature and structure of the human psyche in a preceptorial on Sigmund Freud’s “The Ego and the Id.”
