Who was Anne Arundel County's namesake? This is the subject of the next Maryland history lecture at St. John's College. The lecture, "Our Namesake: Queen Anne of Great Britain," will be given by Sherri Marsh, vice chair and secretary of the Anne Arundel County Trust for Preservation. The Maryland History Lecture Series, which is co-sponsored by the Anne Arundel County Trust for Preservation and the Friends of St. John's College, takes the theme "Exploring Our Roots" and each lecture focuses on a different facet of Maryland history. Marsh's lecture on Queen Anne of Great Britain, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Great Hall of McDowell Hall on October 21, at 8:15 p.m.

Each lecture is preceded by a candlelit dinner. Dinners, held at 7:15 p.m. in Randall Hall, must be paid in advance. The full series of five dinners is $150.00. A single reservation is $30.00. Full-series subscribers are guaranteed reservations. To make a reservation contact Anne Zolkower at 410-626-2507 or anne.zolkower@sjca.edu. Dinner reservation deadline: October 16.
