The United States Croquet Association honored the St. John's College Croquet team by naming them The Collegiate Team of the Year. Lee Hanna, USCA Mid Atlantic regional vice president and the director of the Collegiate National Tournament, presented the award to St. John's Imperial Wicket Ian Hanover and his fellow teammates at the conclusion of the National Croquet Championships. The Championships were held on April 26-27 at the Merion Cricket Club in Haverford, Pa.
"We are thrilled with the St. John's students and their enthusiasm for croquet. We want to acknowledge the St. John's team for their continued excellence of play at the Nationals, and for organizing the Annapolis Cup Tournament – which is the largest attended croquet event in the world," said Hanna. "We also want to acknowledge the way the Johnnies continue to come out for croquet, playing in their spare time as students, then continuing to play even after they graduate."
In addition to the Collegiate Team of the Year award, the St. John's College team took home the trophy as winners of the National Championship. "St. John's totally dominated this six-wicket event," said Hanna. Imperial Wicket Ian Hanover and fellow Johnnie Charlie Fleming also teamed to win the individual event, receiving another trophy for St. John's.
