Blues is a distinctively home-grown American art form, with roots in the spirituals, ballads, chants, and other musical forms practiced among African American communities of the South in the 19th century. Many of the musicians in “Down Home Back Porch Blues,” including Annapolis native Neil Harpe and Severna Park resident Max Ochs, often perform together.  The line-up also includes Baltimore-born artist Erin Harpe, Washington, D.C. native Rick Franklin, Louisiana native Eleanor Ellis, and blues legends Warner Williams and Jay Summerour.
