St. John’s College in Annapolis gained a mention in a new book on college admissions. In “Acceptance: a Legendary Guidance Counselor Helps Seven Kids Find the Right Colleges—and Themselves” (Penguin), the college is listed as one of “forty overlooked gems” in higher education.

In his book, David L. Marcus describes the college hunt for several students at Oyster Bay High School in New York. The book focuses on a guidance counselor, Gwyeth “Smitty” Smith, and his approach to helping students find the right college. Smith includes St. John’s on a list of colleges that students and their families should consider in their college hunt.
