St. John’s College invites the community to celebrate the life and legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the fifth annual “Lift Every Voice” concert of gospel music featuring renowned vocal groups from the region, including the Morgan State University Choir, the Sensational Royal Lights, and the Queen Sisters. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Francis Scott Key Auditorium on Sunday, January 8 at 4 p.m. Doors open at 3 p.m. Seating is limited. Get details on our website, or for questions, call 410-626-2530.

St. John’s treasurer Dr. Bronté Jones organized the first concert five years ago to offer a family-centered community event. “While there are many events in Washington, D.C., and in Baltimore, it seemed appropriate for Annapolis to have an event that is free and open to the community,” Jones says. As many as 500 people have attended the high-spirited performance in the past, and attendance grows each year. This event is co-sponsored by St. John’s College, The Friends of St. John’s College, Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture, and Sojourner-Douglass College.
