A Capella Group ‘Nordic Voices’ to Perform at St. John’s College

St. John’s College welcomes Nordic Voices, a six-voice a capella ensemble from Norway acclaimed for their depth and extraordinary vocal skills, to perform their concert “Lamentations: Old and New Music of Victoria, Gesualdo, Lasse Thoresen, and Others.” The concert, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Francis Scott Key Auditorium on February 10 at 8:15 p.m.
Nordic Voices was founded in 1996. Its members are Tone E. Braaten, soprano; Ingrid Hanken, soprano; Ebba Rydh, mezzo-soprano; Per Kristian Amundrød, tenor; Frank Havrøy, baritone; and Trond Olav Reinholdtsen, bass. All have backgrounds in singing and a wide range of experience from choral conducting to teacher training and even composition. Nordic Voices explore research in vocal art and many types of musical expression. They perform a wide range of musical techniques, from ordinary classical sounds to Mongolian overtone singing. Nordic Voices’ latest recording is "Lamentations.”
