Lecture at St. John’s Discusses Pity in “Philoctetes”

Professor Marina McCoy of Boston College will give a lecture on “Pity as a Civic Virtue in Sophocles’ ‘Philoctetes’” at St. John’s College. The lecture is free and open to the public and will be held in the Francis Scott Key Auditorium on Friday, April 8, at 8:15 p.m.

McCoy received her doctorate from Boston University. The inaugural holder of the Albert J. Fitzgibbons Chair in Philosophy, she is the author of several articles on the use of rhetoric by Plato and is currently working on a book regarding vulnerability and suffering in Greek philosophy and literature.
