The Annapolis History Consortium, an informal organization of more than 100 professional and amateur historians who meet to discuss the history of the Annapolis area, will present Annapolis in the initial phases of the Civil War in "Annapolis, Awakened by War.”  This presentation commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. “Annapolis” will include photos as well as documents written by Annapolitans and soldiers who describe the landing of thousands of troops at the U.S. Naval Academy. Costumed narrators will portray events occurring in Annapolis in 1861, the first year of the war.  The presentation will take place on April 12 in Francis Scott Key Auditorium at  8:15 p.m.

The Maryland History Lecture series is co-sponsored by the Anne Arundel County Trust for Preservation and the Friends of St. John’s College. Each history lecture is preceded by a candlelit dinner. Dinners, held at 7:15 p.m., in Randall Hall, must be paid for in advance. A single reservation is $33.00. To make a reservation contact Molly Burnett at 410-626-2881 or molly.burnett@sjca.edu.
