Lecture at St. John’s College on the Origin of Opera

Professor Barbara Hanning of City University of New York will give a lecture titled “How Opera Began (and Why It Began in Florence)” at St. John’s College. The lecture is free and open to the public and will be held in the Francis Scott Key Auditorium on Friday, March 25, at 8:15 p.m.
Hanning received her doctorate at Yale University and has chaired the Department of Music at The City College of New York since 1990.
