The Friends of St. John’s College and PNC Bank welcome the community to the second annual, foot-stomping fundraiser and concert, “Down Home Back Porch Blues.” Hosted by Ty Ford, well-known local musicians and legendary blues artists will perform acoustic folk blues, Mississippi Delta blues, Piedmont blues, and ragtime music. The concert will be held in the Francis Scott Key Auditorium on Sunday, November 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. Seating opens at 1:30 p.m. “Down Home Back Porch Blues” will be followed by a reception with the musicians.

Tickets are $20. Space is limited. Reserve tickets online or contact Molly Burnett at 410-626-2881. Ticket sales open at 1 p.m. on the day of the concert. “Down Home Back Porch Blues” is sponsored by the Friends of St. John’s College and PNC Bank; all proceeds from this fundraiser go towards scholarships for undergraduates at the college.

Blues is a distinctively home-grown American art form, with roots in the spirituals, ballads, chants, and other musical forms practiced among African American communities of the South in the 19th century. Many of the musicians performing in this concert are local, including Annapolis native Neil Harpe.  The line-up also includes Baltimore-born artist Erin Harpe, Washington, D.C. native Rick Franklin, Louisiana native Eleanor Ellis, and blues legends Warner Williams and Jay Summerour.
