St. John's College Annual Fund — 2009-2010
Welcome to the Mind-Body Challenge
This year, St. John's College in Annapolis marks a milestone for Iglehart Hall, dedicated in 1910. So much more than a mere gymnasium, Temple Iglehart holds a special place in the hearts of generations of Johnnies who have pursued athletic (or not-so-athletic) endeavors within its walls. To celebrate the gym's centennial, St. John's announces a fundraising campaign to create a $500,000 endowment to help fund the athletic program on campus. Athletic Director Leo Pickens (A78) will use a draw from the endowment to pay for planned maintenance for the gymnasium and to support the college's intramural programs.
The Mind-Body Challenge was launched publicly during the SJC vs. USNA croquet match on Sunday, April 19, 2009. Three alumni serve as co-chairs of the challenge: Matthew Carter (A95), Nancy Townsend (A85), and Michael van Beuren (A75). Temple Iglehart fans have already made $250,000 in gifts and pledges to the campaign.
To learn more about the campaign, read the Mind-Body Challenge Case Statement. Or visit Temple Iglehart on both Facebook and YouTube, where you can find testimonials and photographs of Kunai basketball, March Madness, croquet, and other upcoming events. Mr. Pickens leads a video tour of Iglehart Hall and the athletic fields and boathouse. You can also see interviews Kunai players on current uniform fashions.
