Giving to St. John's
From the earliest days as King William School over 300 years ago, St. John's College has relied on the generosity and volunteer spirit of its alumni and friends. Today, their generosity is joined by that of parents, corporations, and foundations whose interest in preserving the St. John's College Program is evidenced by their financial support of the students, tutors, and the campus through gifts to the Annual Fund, to special projects, and to the endowment.

Special Notice - New IRA Tax Law
Charitable IRA rollovers: the Pension Protection Act of 2006
This new law allows an individual who is 70.5 years old to distribute up to $100,000 to a qualified charity (such as St. John’s College) from a traditional and Roth IRA while excluding the $100,000 from gross income for federal tax purposes. Some additional details:
Thus far, the law applies only to gifts made in 2006 and 2007.
There is no additional charitable deduction earned.
The limit is $100,000 per taxpayer. If both spouses have IRA’s with sufficient funds available, each can make a charitable distribution.
The contribution may not be made in exchange for a gift annuity or charitable unitrust.
The distribution must come directly from the IRA plan administrator and be sent to the Advancement Office on the appropriate campus.
