Meet the Authors 2012: A Wonderful and Successful Event
Despite torrential rains, blustery winds, and widespread power outages brought on earlier by Hurricane Sandy, the Caritas Societys Meet the Authors event on Sunday, November 4 was a resolute success. Attendees agreed that authors Corban Addison, Chris Pavone, and Roger Rosenblatt were a great combination. The authors discussion about their work and the writing life, which was followed by a lively question and answer period, was informative, humorous and poignant.

Behind the scenes Hurricane Sandy exerted her heavy hand. On the Saturday morning before the event, Caritas faced the prospect of one author unable to attendPavone, who lives in Greenwich Village, remained without electricity and water. The order for copies of Addisons book, A Walk Across the Sun, was delayed. It was beginning to seem more and more like the perfect storm. However, by Saturday afternoon the college Bookstore finally received the shipment of books, and power was restored to Lower Manhattan. From there things flowed smoothly. Lovely weather, a great turnout, interesting authors, and delicious food made for another wonderful Meet the Authors event that was enjoyed by all.
Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make it possible!
