The Board of Directors of the Alumni Association has nominated the following two individuals to serve as Secretary or Treasurer for two-year terms beginning in July 1, 2012:
Secretary: Ginger Kenney, A67
A graduate of the Annapolis campus, Ms. Kenney played a key role in the late 1970s in broadening the Alumni Association to include chapters. She served on the Board of Visitors and Governors, was president of the Boston chapter, and currently serves as an at-large director of the Alumni Association Board. Ms. Kenney consults in writing and editing for the design, technical, and psychology professions. In addition, she has drafted and edited numerous articles, reports, and proposals related to higher education, planning, design, and sustainability. Ms. Kenney holds a Master of Architecture degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, a Certificate in Financial Planning from Boston University and has conducted post-doctoral research in psychology at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, North Carolina. Ms. Kenney has over twenty-five years’ experience in systems and organizational consulting.
Treasurer: David Kidd, A85
After graduating from the Annapolis campus, Mr. Kidd began his scholarly pursuits of art and architectural history while working as a medical researcher at Johns Hopkins University. In 2000, he founded Kidd Studios LLC. Locally he has consulted with the Institute for Classical Architecture in New York and the Maryland Institute College of Art. In addition to teaching at the London School for Decorative Painting, he has given numerous master classes in Paris, Rome, Florence and Oslo . Mr. Kidd currently teaches Art and Design at the University of the District of Columbia as an adjunct professor. He was recently named the Chair of the Architectural Review Committee by CHAP for the Mt. Royal/Bolton Hill historic district in Baltimore. Mr. Kidd currently serves as a SJC Alumni Association at-large director.
The Board of Directors of the Alumni Association has nominated the following six individuals to serve as At-Large Directors on the Alumni Association Board for two-year terms beginning in July 1, 2012:
Derek Alexander, A99
After graduating in 1999 from the Annapolis campus, Mr. Alexander returned to South Carolina, then relocated to New York City, working in information technology. Mr. Alexander received his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2008, having served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review. Mr. Alexander practices law at the firm of Debevoise & Plimpton, focusing on bankruptcy. Mr. Alexander has long volunteered with the College's admissions office.
Susann Bradford, SF89
After completing the undergraduate program in Santa Fe, Ms. Bradford earned a master's degree in environmental studies and worked to promote biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration for ten years before returning to the study of education. She now has a doctorate degree in curriculum and instruction and works as an adjunct instructor at the University of Montana in Missoula. Ms. Bradford reconnected with the College and Alumni Association in 2009 and has participated in ALF since 2010.
Carol Freeman, AGI94
Former SJC AA President Glenda Eoyang brought seminars to teachers in Minnesota. Carol Freeman was there, and in the middle of completing a Ph. D. in Education Policy and Administration, she spent four summers in Annapolis finishing the GI program by 1994. Since then, she regularly participated in Twin Cities chapter seminars, became chapter president in 2000, and was asked to be SJC Alumni Association Chapters Committee Chair in 2002. Ms. Freeman is retired after several careers related to education, starting as a high school teacher and finishing as a Research Associate at the Univ. of Minnesota where she evaluated K-12 school reform programs. Since retiring, she has traveled the world, stayed active in Twin Cities seminars, and is obsessed with politics and the state of governance in our nation.
Allison Hauspurg Pittman, A08
Ms. Pittman first came to St. John's as an undergraduate on the Santa Fe campus. She divided her years equally between the two campuses, and graduated in Annapolis in 2008. She began her formal involvement with the Alumni Association at the 2011 Alumni Leadership Forum. Ms. Pittman also holds a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University. She has been recognized for her achievements in the field locally and at the state-wide level, including receiving honorable mention in the 2011 "Top 40 Under 40" of the Virginia Nursing Association. She is currently a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Craig Sirkin, A95
Mr. Sirkin's post-graduate involvement with the College began with the first of three stints as a reunion class leader in 1999. Currently serving on the Alumni Association Awards committee, Mr. Sirkin's greater involvement with the Alumni Association followed attendance at the ALFs, as he was in search of ways to help the College beyond some fund raising efforts every five years. Mr. Sirkin is a Sr. Manager at Juniper Networks.
Linda Stabler-Talty, SFGI76
Ms. Stabler-Talty completed her Graduate Institute degree in 1976, and has continued her association with the College since those heady Santa Fe summers. Having served on the Alumni Board intermittently over the years, she brings the "long view" to her work with the Board. She received a Master's of Environmental Design from Yale University in 1992, and has worked in public art and cultural resource management in both Connecticut and New York. She currently resides in Southampton, NY, and serves on Sustainability Advisory Committees for the Village and Town, along with volunteering for the Southampton Historical Museum, public school projects, and land trust organizations.
Nomination by petition
Other nominations for election to the Alumni Association Board may be made by written petition, signed by no fewer than twenty five members of the Association and presented to a Director of Alumni Relations on or before Saturday, May 12, 2012. Such petitions must be accompanied by biographical sketches for each candidate, and the consent of any such candidate must first be obtained.
