Title: Painter
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
 
Duties Prepares surfaces for painting and then paints interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures. Mixes paint to match colors, uses brusher, rollers, scraper, chemical compounds, heat guns, ladders, scaffolding and other tools. Works with plaster and other fillers. Repairs door and window glass. Schedules work with supervisor estimating time and material costs for projects. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Job may require physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, carrying or lifting supplies or equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.

Compensation: Grade 8, Minimum hourly Rate $14.94.  Excellent benefit package.

Title: Senior Resident
Schedule: Varies, but estimated to be an average of 15 hours per week. (Annually, approximately 220 hours on call/event support and 290 hours organizing volunteer support)
Reports To: Director of Student Services
 
Duties: Senior Residents are non-student adults who live on campus and provide leadership, support and safety for undergraduate students. Duties common to all Senior Residents include the following: participating in occasional pre-semester planning meetings scheduled by Student Services or the Assistant Dean; arriving on campus one week before students to coordinate with other Sr. Residents and RAs; attending and assisting with Convocation and related events; attending and calling Senior Resident meetings as needed; communicating with students and staff in a timely and professional manner; completing weekly and event reports; cooperating and communicating with the Public Safety and Health Center staff to maintain a safe environment, and adhering to a rotating on-call schedule. On call duties are rotated among Senior Residents and include but are not limited to the following: attending parties and events, monitoring situations for safety; answering and responding to emergency calls from Public Safety Officers; remaining within 15 minute drive of campus.
 
In addition to the above, the Senior Residents provide support for other student civic, social and/or personal activities, including Outdoor Activities and Volunteer Services.
 
Qualifications: Acceptable combination of  a college degree plus two years of experience showing the following: understanding of student matters related to residential life on a college campus; ability to provide guidance, leadership, and appropriate intervention to young adults; ability to coordinate with a team of peers and other departments to create safety and promote responsibility without confining or restricting behavior unnecessarily; ability to recognize and respond appropriately to emergencies; interest in promoting volunteer or outdoor activities and ability to organize details and student participation; ability to understand the St. John’s College program and successfully communicate with students, faculty, and staff.
            
Compensation: Minimum Wage, paid in a stipend per semester, plus a campus apartment. Eligible for overtime if weekly duties exceed 40 hours.

Title: Admissions Administrative Assistant
Reports To: Admissions Data and Operations Manager

Duties: The Admissions Administrative Assistant provides essential support to the Admissions Office recruitment efforts by performing data entry collected and maintained on prospective students, incoming applicants, and other constituents; facilitating the distribution of various communications; managing department inventory; assisting visitors and answering general inquiries; and providing general administrative support to the office. This position reports to and assists the Database and Operations Manager. As a member of the Admissions staff, the Administrative Assistant must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be willing to learn new tasks, processes, database systems, and web-based tools and resources.

Performs the following tasks:

Qualifications: AA Degree and two years relevant office experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Experience in a college/university or not for profit organization preferred. Strong working knowledge of data entry practices, data quality standards, and database concepts. Demonstrated knowledge of relational databases. Demonstrated working knowledge of MS Word and Excel. Strong working knowledge of general administrative practices to perform functions with independent judgment and initiative. Strong working knowledge of product/office inventory management preferred. Experience in customer relations/public relations. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information. Ability to learn higher education concepts and processes related to admissions, financial aid, and registrar. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, while producing a high-volume of acceptable work.

Title:  Payroll and Benefit Specialist
Reports To: Controller

Duties: Maintains the HR and Payroll database to include payroll and benefit information. Works with personnel department to ensure accurate input of data related to new hires, and all salary and benefit information and changes. Processes payroll and audits payroll reports to ensure accuracy for salary, tax, benefit and payroll deductions, and payroll adjustments; responsible for preparation of quarter-end and year-end tax reports for review. Processes medical, dental, retirement, long-term disability, and life insurance benefits; updates systems  to reflect new enrollments, terminations, leaves of absence, contribution, and salary changes, etc, processes bills, reconciles accounts.

Performs tasks to establish and maintain employee/payroll records. Duties may include checking and auditing timekeeping records for compliance with established standards, maintaining time and attendance records, reviewing data entry of new hires into the payroll system, managing enrollment changes during open enrollment, posting changes in pay and tax status, and miscellaneous changes. Performs a wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities, including computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, processing requests for paycheck advances and employee loans, and processing terminations.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: AA Degree (Bachelors Degree preferred), three years of payroll processing experience, or acceptable combination of education and experience. Knowledge of standard accounting practices including General Ledger, knowledge and proficient use of Microsoft computer applications to include Word, Excel, and large relational database such as Ceridian or ADP.  Effective verbal and written communication skills; and ability to maintain confidentiality of information as appropriate. Prefer payroll or benefits certification. Ability to work with the St. John’s College community.

Title: Student Counselor, part-time 60% position
Reports To: Assistant Dean
 
Duties: Meet with students for scheduled mental health counseling sessions and for crisis counseling when necessary.  Consult with parent of students.  Refer to and consult with other mental health professionals as needed.  Attend meeting or consultations with College administrators, resident assistants, senior residents, and health services staff as needed.  Maintain records of care provided.  Be available, on-call, for after hour emergencies and during the summer.  Coordinate on call schedule with other counseling center staff.  Meet weekly with the Assistant Dean for coordination and supervision.  Understand as thoroughly as possible the academic and social aspects of student life at the College.  Continue professional education, maintain license and insurance
 
Qualifications: Possession of an appropriate degree (master’s or doctorate), a professional license to practice mental health counseling from the state of Maryland, and professional liability insurance. Experience handling mental health crises. Ability to understand the St. John’s College program and successfully communicate with students, faculty, and staff.

Title: Registrar, Associate Faculty Position
Reports To: Dean

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Responsible for the management and implementation of the administrative and operational activities of the Office of the Registrar. These include maintaining academic records, ensuring their accuracy, security, and integrity, and making them available as appropriate. The Office creates the undergraduate master academic schedule for the distinctive St. John’s program and schedules for other academic events, including senior oral examinations and don rags, and provides information and reports about academic activities to students, faculty, staff, and officers, including enrollment projections. Maintains and disseminates the college calendar. Coordinates activities for campus-wide academic events including registration, convocation, and commencement.

The Registrar compiles and reports academic and other information to internal and external authorities. This includes compliance with statutory reporting requirements to federal and state governments (e.g. IPEDS, MHEC), accreditors, and voluntary associations. Undertakes studies and analysis of institutional research data relevant to the College. Makes decisions regarding information technology structures and choices within the college’s integrated student information system. Carries out academic policies. Develops and carries out administrative practices and policies, independently and collaboratively. Coordinates process for students seeking to transfer between Annapolis and Santa Fe campuses. Advises students on academic policies connected with the Office. Ensures efficiency, efficacy, and accuracy of services provided by the Office. Works with the Registrar of the Santa Fe campus of the College.

Works closely with the Dean and Assistant Dean on matters regarding student enrollment status and privacy issues. Serves as principal designated school official for matters concerning international student visas and veterans’ benefits, and maintains knowledge of current regulations in these areas. Supervises one staff member. Interprets and implements federal laws and institutional policies related to student privacy and student right to know acts, and maintains knowledge of current regulations in these areas. Serves as an ex officio member of the Campus Planning Committee and the Archive and Records Committee.

Supervision Received: Associate faculty status reporting to the Dean.

Supervision Given: Supervises one staff member.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and at least five years’ relevant experience, one year of records management experience; ability to understand the St. John’s program. Demonstrated expertise with managing database systems; knowledge of FERPA, USCIS and VA regulations; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to organize, multitask, problem-solve and work effectively with a variety of constituencies (students, faculty, staff); highest standards of professional ethics and integrity.

Desirable Qualifications: Experience in a Registrar’s Office; proficiency with student information system and reporting tools (Jenzabar CX and Cognos, most desirable); Familiarity with information technology systems and products available to the higher education sector; knowledge of the undergraduate academic scheduling process for St. John’s College.

Compensation: Grade 15, Minimum Salary $66,894.00. Excellent benefit package.
