2008 Summer Semester Calendar

SUMMER CLASS SCHEDULE:
Seminars: Monday and Thursday 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Tutorials: Monday through Thursday 4:45-6:00 p.m.
Preceptorials: Monday and Wednesday 2:30-4:30 p.m.

SUMMER LECTURES: To be held on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m., approximately every other weekend.

Saturday and Sunday		 Spector Dormitory is open for occupancy. Dormitory residents may pick up their room keys and key cards at the Security Office in Pinkney Hall, West Annex.
June 22
Sunday		 2:00-4:00 p.m.
Seminar on Plato's Meno, 70a-86d, for all new Graduate Institute students.
Barr Buchanan Center, Rm. 109. Refreshments.
June 23

Student Registration

Registration Instructions:
Step 1: All new and transfer students, and those continuing students who have not received their summer schedules and mailboxes, must come to Registration in the General Hartle Room, Room 207, Barr Buchanan Center.

Step II: Students who plan to park on campus must purchase summer campus parking permits ($30) in the Security Office in the East Pinkney Hall Annex. Bring vehicle registration, insurance information, and license plate number and cash or a check for $30.

Step III: Photo-identification-key cards will be made for new students and Santa Fe transfer students, and revalidated for returning students who were not enrolled in the fall and spring. Mellon Hall, Assistant Dean's Office.

Step IV: Students should stop by the Help Desk in the Information Technology Office in the basement of Randall Hall to activate their St. John's Computer accounts.

2:30 p.m.
First preceptorial class meetings.

4:45 p.m.
First tutorial class meetings.

7:30 p.m.
First seminar class meetings.

9:30 p.m.
After-seminar gathering in the Randall Hall Dining Hall for students and tutors. Refreshments provided by the Graduate Council.

Saturday		 Last day to apply without financial penalty to transfer to
Santa Fe for fall 2008.
June 30
Monday		 Master's essay writers' book lists are due
by noon in the Graduate Institute Office
July 7
Monday		 Early conferences begin
July 14
Monday		 Conferences begin for new students.
July 17
Thursday		 Master's Essays being submitted for summer oral examinations
are due by noon in the Graduate Institute Office.
July 21
Monday		 Reservations are due in the Graduate Institute Office
for the annual Greek Night Dinner.
July 28
Monday		 Oral examinations for seminar students may begin.
July 29
Tuesday		 6:00 p.m. Greek Night Dinner in the Randall Dining Hall.

Graduate Institute Faculty luncheon meeting to recommend candidates for the M.A.L.A. degree.

Wednesday		 Continuing students' preceptorial essays are due in class.

6:00 p.m. Director's Reception in honor of the August Degree Candidates. Great Hall.

7:15 p.m. President's Reception for the August Degree Candidates, Tutors and Guests. President's House.

Thursday		 Final classes meet.
August 15
Friday		 10:00 a.m. Commencement in the Great Hall, McDowell Hall
Reception follows in FSK Lobby, Mellon Hall.

End of the summer semester.
August 16
Saturday		 All dormitory rooms must be vacated by noon.
