2008 Spring Semester Calendar

Spring Class Schedule:
Seminars: Monday 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Tutorials: Monday and Thursday 5:15-6:30 p.m.
Preceptorials: Thursday 7:30-9:30 p.m.
The Greek Language Preceptorial meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

January 7
Monday		 10:00 a.m.-noon Graduate Institute New Students' Orientation Seminar on Plato's Meno, 70-86d, with follow-up discussion, in the Barr-Buchanan Center in Room 109.

2:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
Step I: Registration for new students, Santa Fe transfers, and other students who have not received their class schedules in mail before today. (Students' accounts must be paid prior to registration.) Barr-Buchanan Center, Room 207.

Step II: Students who plan to park on campus must register their vehicles for spring semester campus parking permits. Bring $30 in cash or check, vehicle registration, insurance card, and license plate number. Pinkney Hall, Security Annex.

Step III: Photo-identification-key cards will be made for new students and for Santa Fe transfers, and re-validated for returning students who were not enrolled in fall 2007. Mellon Hall, Assistant Dean's Office.

Step IV: New and transfer students should establish their computer accounts. Randall Hall basement, Information Technology Office.

Step V: Students should check their new fall mailboxes in the basement of McDowell Hall, and frequently thereafter. (Those students who have received class lists and fall mailbox assignments by mail will find their student identification re-validation stickers in their new campus mailboxes.)

Monday after-seminar gatherings begin this evening for Graduate Institute students and tutors. Barr Buchanan, Hartle Room.

Tuesday		 First Greek translation preceptorial meeting.

Thursday		 5:15-6:30 p.m.
Tutorials continue.
7:30-9:30 p.m.
First regular preceptorial class meetings.
January 11
Friday		 Master's essayists book lists are due in Graduate Institute Office.
January 14
Monday		 3:45 p.m.
Graduate Institute Faculty Meeting
Hartle Room.
February 4
Monday		 Early conferences begin.
Special conference requests from students or tutors for the second round of conferences are due in the Graduate Institute.
February 25
Monday		 Conferences begin. (Schedules are distributed in advance by the Graduate Institute Office.)
February 28
Thursday		 Master's Essays due by noon in the Graduate Institute Office. Students interested in writing master's essays in 2008-2009 should inform the Director by this date.
March 15
Saturday		 Summer 2008 advance deposit deadline.
February 29-March 16 Spring Vacation.
March 17
Monday		 Classes resume. Confereneces resume.
March 24
Monday		 Master's essay oral examinations may begin.
April 7
Monday		 Seminar oral examinations may begin. (Oral examinations are scheduled in advance by the seminar tutors.)
April 16
Wednesday		 Last day to transfer without financial penalty to Santa Fe for the summer semester.
April 24
Thursday		 Graduating students' preceptorial papers are due in class.
April 28
